The calculator takes the length and width of your planting area in feet and the desired depth in inches, then instantly shows three values you need for ordering topsoil: total cubic feet, cubic yards, and approximate tons. Knowing cubic yards tells you how many bulk bags or truckloads to request; cubic feet helps when comparing bag sizes; the ton estimate is useful for budgeting, especially if you’re buying by weight. The tool uses the standard conversion—multiply length, width and depth (converted to feet) to get cubic feet, divide by 27 for cubic yards, and multiply by 1.3 to get tons. For example, a 10 ft × 5 ft area 6 in deep yields 25 ft³, about 0.93 yd³, and roughly 1.2 tons. Results are displayed immediately, no registration required.
