How it works

Work out the volume, then divide by a bag's yield (a 50-lb bag ≈ 0.45 cubic feet).

Cubic feet = Length × Width × (Thickness ÷ 12) · Bags = Cubic feet ÷ 0.45

Example

A 10 × 10 ft floor at about 0.5 in needs roughly 9–10 bags.
